Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair
Power Steering Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the upper air cleaner and duct.
2. Remove the power steering hoses from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Line/Hose.
3. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts (2).
4. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering pump (1) to the engine.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts (2).
Tighten the power steering mounting bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the power steering hoses to the pump (1). Refer to Power Steering Line/Hose.
4. Install the upper air cleaner and duct.
5. Fill the power steering pump with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid under Steering Service and Repair.
6. Bleed the air from the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System under Steering Service and Repair.
