Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
Steering Wheel
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models less air bag, proceed as follows:
a. Remove steering wheel trim pad retaining screws from underside of steering wheel spokes, then lift off trim pad and remove wiring connector,
if equipped.
b. Remove snap ring and nut from steering shaft.
3. On models equipped with air bag, proceed as follows:

Information.
a. Remove horn pad assembly, then disconnect horn switch electrical connector.
b. Remove steering wheel nut. Note alignment mark and its relationship to steering wheel and steering shaft.
4. Remove steering wheel using steering wheel puller tool No. J-1859-03, or equivalent.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
