V6 ENGINE
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable and remove air cleaner.
2.
Drain cooling system, then disconnect upper radiator hose and thermostat bypass hose from water outlet.
3.
Disconnect heater inlet hose and on models equipped with air conditioning, the water valve vacuum line.
4.
Disconnect crankcase ventilation pipe from air crossover, Fig. 10. Remove air crossover.
5.
Remove fuel pump and plug all open lines and fittings.
6.
Remove fuel injection pump as described under ``Injection Pump, Replace.''
7.
Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary.
8.
Remove cruise control servo, if equipped.
9.
Disconnect fuel lines and position aside. Disconnect vacuum lines as necessary.
10.
Remove drain tube, then remove intermediate pump adapter, Fig. 11.
11.
Remove intake manifold bolts and the intake manifold.
12.
Reverse procedure to install. Lubricate intake manifold bolts with engine oil before installing, then torque bolts as specified in sequence shown in
Fig. 12. Apply chassis grease to seal area of intake manifold and pump adapter and to inside and outside diameter of seal and seal area of tool
J-28425 or equivalent. Install seal onto tool, then install seal.
