Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence & Torque Specifications

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable, drain and recover cooling system.
2. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
3. Loosen rocker arm nuts and swing rocker arms aside then remove pushrods.
4. Remove engine lift bracket located at the rear of the engine.
5. Route the spark plug wires down below lower intake manifold.
6. Remove cylinder head with exhaust and intake manifolds attached, refer to Cylinder Head / Service and Repair.
7. Remove the cylinder head gasket and the bolts retaining the anti-rotation brackets.
8. Remove the valve lifters.
