1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Shift transaxle into first gear.
3.
Loosen shift cable attaching nuts ``E'' on transaxle lever ``D'' and ``F,'' Fig. 3.
4.
Remove console trim plate, then slide shifter boot up shifter handle and remove console.
5.
Insert a yoke clip to hold lever as shown in view ``D,'' Fig. 3.
6.
Insert 5/32 inch or No. 22 drill bit into alignment hole on side of shifter assembly, view ``C,'' Fig. 3.
7.
Rotate lever ``D'' in direction of arrow while tightening nut ``E,'' Fig. 3, to remove lash from transaxle.
8.
Tighten nut ``E'' on lever ``F,'' Fig. 3.
9.
Remove drill bit and yoke from shifter assembly.
10.
Reconnect battery ground cable.
11.
Check for proper operation. If ``hang-up'' is encountered when shifting in the 1-2 gear range and shift cables are adjusted properly, it may be
necessary to change shifter shaft selective washer.
