Cutlass Ciera Cruiser V6-3300 3.3L MFI VIN N (1993)
Brake Assembly
The rear drum brakes, have self-adjusting shoe mechanisms that assure correct lining-to-drum clearances at all times. The automatic adjusters
operate only when the brakes are applied as the vehicle is moving rearward. Although the brakes are self-adjusting, an initial adjustment is
necessary after the brake shoes have been replaced, or when the length of the star wheel adjuster has been changed during some other service
operation.
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels and brake drums.
2. If parking brake cable is holding stops off edge of shoe webs, loosen parking brake cable adjustment. Make sure stops (16) on both parking brake
levers (7) are against edges of webs on park brake shoes (8).
3. Measure drum inside diameter using J 21177-A.
4. Turn brake adjusting screw (15) to expand shoes to diameter obtained on outside caliper portion of tool J-21177 for both wheels.
5. Install brake drums, wheels and tires aligning marks made at removal and lower vehicle to floor.
