Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
System Check

With ambient air temperature above 16C (60F), start car and set A/C Mode Selector to MAX (if equipped with A/C).
NORMAL RESULT: Coolant Fan will turn on.

With engine coolant below operating temperature, move A/C Mode Selector to OFF.
NORMAL RESULT: Coolant Fan turns off in a short time period.

Run the engine at fast idle until engine coolant becomes hot.
NORMAL RESULT: The Coolant Fan turns on and runs before the Coolant Temp Indicator comes on or the Coolant Temperature gauge reaches

Troubleshooting Hints
Try the following checks before doing the System Check.
1. Check Fan/Alt Fuse by visual inspection.
2. If the Coolant Fan runs with the Ignition Switch OFF, replace the Coolant Fan Relay.
