REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Apply parking brake and block wheels, then place transaxle in the NEUTRAL position.
3.
Disconnect shift linkage from transmission, then the electrical connector from the neutral switch, Fig. 3.
4.
Remove two switch mounting bolts, then the switch.
INSTALLATION
1.
Place shift shaft in neutral.
2.
Align flats in shift shaft with flats in switch.
3.
Install mounting bolts, if bolt holes will not align with mounting boss on the transmission, proceed as follows:
a. Ensure shift shaft is in neutral position. Do not rotate switch. Switch is pinned in a neutral position.
b. Install mounting bolts loosely.
c. Align slot in support with slot in back and insert a 3/32 drill bit horizontally into both pieces.
4.
Torque mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
5.
Remove drill bit, if used, then reconnect electrical connector and shift linkage.
6.
Verify that engine will start only in neutral or park position, if engine starts in any other position, adjust switch as follows:
a. Place shifter in NEUTRAL position, then loosen switch attaching screws.
b. Rotate switch on shifter assembly to align service adjustment hole with carrier tang hole, Fig. 3.
c. Insert a 3.32 inch gauge pin to a depth of 5/8 inch.
d. Torque mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs., then remove gauge pin.
7.
Release parking brake and remove wheel blocks.
