Blower Motor: Description and Operation
With Electronic Climate Control
Operation
The Blower Off Relay is energized when the Air Conditioning System is off and the Ignition Switch is in RUN. The Relay contacts close and remove
Battery voltage from the Blower Resistors and the Blower Motor.
Low and Medium Speeds
When any of the operating buttons in the Heater and A/C Control Assembly are pressed, the ground is removed from the Blower Off Relay. The relay
is de-energized and its contacts open, applying voltage to the Blower Resistor Assembly. When the Blower Speed Control Switch is pushed to display
M1, a solid state switch in the Heater and A/C Control Assembly closes to connect the BRN and TAN wires. This bypasses the first resistor and the
motor speed increases. In the M2 position, two resistors are by-passed and only one remains in the circuit.
High Speed
When the Blower Speed Control Switch is in the HI position, voltage is applied to the Blower Relay. The relay closes and applies Battery voltage
directly to the Blower Motor. The motor then runs at maximum speed.
