Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair
Brake Pedal Reinforcement Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 

1. Remove the brake pedal. Refer to Brake Pedal Replacement.
2. Remove the brake pedal bracket. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement.
3. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
4. Remove the six brake pedal reinforcement bracket mounting nuts from the front of the dash.
5. Remove the brake pedal reinforcement bracket.
6. Inspect all parts for wear. Repair or replace the components as needed.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 

1. Install the brake pedal reinforcement bracket. 

NOTICE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the brake pedal reinforcement bracket mounting nuts.

Tighten the brake pedal reinforcement bracket nuts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). 

3. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement.
4. Install the brake pedal bracket. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement.
5. Install the brake pedal. Refer to Brake Pedal Replacement.
6. Adjust the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Adjustment.
