Apply insulating tape between the high-mounted stop lamp and the spoiler as shown in Figures 1-2.

Service Procedure

1.

Remove the two screws securing the CHMSL to the rear spoiler. Remove lamp and disconnect the electrical connector.

Important:

Do not remove the red liner (backing) material from the double coated tape that is applied to the lamp in the next steps.

Apply a piece of 3M(R) # 6382 Double-Coated (sided) Foam Tape, or equivalent. Cut to a length of 305 mm (12 in.) long to the TOP BACKSIDE
EDGE of the CHMSL lens as shown in Figures 1-2. Using a sharp utility knife, trim off the excess tape following the lens contour.

Apply a second piece of 3M(R) # 6382 Double-Coated (sided) Foam Tape, or equivalent. Cut to a length of 204 mm (8 in.) long to the BOTTOM
BACKSIDE EDGE of CHMSL lens as shown in Figures 1-2. Again using a sharp utility knife, trim off the excess tape following the lens contour.

4.

Reconnect the electrical connector to the CHMSL.

5.

Reinstall the CHMSL in the spoiler, reinstal two screws and tighten to 2 N.m (18 lb in.).

6.

Verify high-mounted stop lamp operation by applying brakes.
