Windshield Replacement: Installation Procedure

8. Cut out the windshield keeping the blade as close to edge of windshield as possible using J 24402-A.
9. Push out on the windshield and insert wooden blocks between the windshield and the A-pillars.

10. From the inside of the vehicle, cut the windshield lower urethane adhesive bead using J 38454.
11. With the aid of a helper, use suction cups to lift the windshield from the opening.
12. Remove the windshield from the vehicle.
13. Clean the windshield opening of any loose material.

If the windshield is to be reinstalled, all urethane adhesive must be removed from the windshield.

14. Clean the surface of the windshield to which urethane adhesive will be applied (around the edge of the inside surface) by wiping with a clean

cloth dampened with GM Window Cleaner GM P/N 1050427 or isopropyl alcohol, then allowing to air dry.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:  If repairs to the pinchweld are required the bonding surface must be a clean primer only surface. Use material such as BASF DE17(R),
DuPont 2610(R). or PPG DP40(R).

1. Repair the pinchweld if corrosion or damage is present.

2. Install the windshield reveal molding to the window.
3. Position (dry fit) the windshield in the opening.
