Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
Rear Strut And Wheel Speed Sensor
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Wheel speed sensor connector.
2. Lower strut attaching nuts and bolts. Clean All dirt and debris from sensor housing/sensor interface area.
3. Mounting screws using J 39860
4. Sensor.
CAUTION: Do not allow debris to enter bearing when sensor is removed. Do not add lubricant to bearing through sensor housing opening. The
bearing is lubricated for the life of the vehicle. Do not clean grease from toothed sensor ring. Grease does not affect sensor operation. Inspect
Sensor ring and sensor plate for contact. When contact is found replace complete bearing.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Lubricate new sensor 0-ring and install sensor to housing.
2. Mounting screws in spiral pattern. Tighten Screws to 2.8 Nm (25 inch lbs.).
3. Lower strut attaching nuts and bolts. Tighten Nut to 190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.).
4. Wheel speed sensor connector.
