Blower Motor: Description and Operation
With Electronic Climate Control
Operation
The Blower Off Relay is energized when the Air Conditioning System is off. The Relay contacts open and remove Battery voltage from the Blower
Resistors and the Blower Motor.
Low and Medium Speeds
When any of the operating buttons in the Heater and A/C Control Assembly are pressed, the ground is connected to the Blower Off Relay. The relay is
energized and its contacts close. When the Blower Speed Control Switch is pushed to display M1, a solid state switch in the Heater and A/C Control
Assembly closes to connect the BRN and TAN wires. This by-passes the first resistor and the motor speed increases. In the M2 position, two resistors
are by-passed and only one remains in the circuit.
High Speed
When the Blower Speed Control Switch is in the HI position, voltage is applied to the High Speed Blower Relay. The relay closes and applies Battery
voltage directly to the Blower Motor. The motor then runs at maximum speed.
