Ninety-Eight V6-3800 3.8L (1989)

If the right rear sensor is to be removed, remove spare tire assembly, then fold back carpeting in corner of luggage compartment to gain access to
sensor connector.
2.
Disconnect sensor electrical connector from wiring harness.
3.
Release the cable grommet, working the sensor cable and connector down through underbody.
4.
Raise and support vehicle.
5.
Remove rear wheel assembly.
6.
On all models except 6000, proceed as follows:
a. Remove grommet attaching screws.
b. Remove sensor attaching bolts, Fig. 98, then the sensor.
7.
On 1989-90 6000 models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove sensor mounting bolt.
b. Remove sensor, then the sensor cable and grommet, Fig. 99.
8.
On all models, reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. On all 1989-90 models except 6000, torque sensor attaching bolt to 84 inch lbs. On 1989 6000 models, torque sensor attaching bolt to 75
inch lbs. On 1990 6000 models, torque sensor attaching bolt to 80 inch lbs.
b. On 6000 models, if wheel sensor is reused, adjust air gap to .028 inches using a suitable feeler gauge. New sensors come equipped with a
paper spacer which will properly gap the sensor when placed against speed sensor ring.
c. On all models except 6000, wheel sensor is automatically adjusted when installed.
d. Ensure wire does not come in contact with suspension parts.
