Some customers may comment about a low brake pedal or excessive brake pedal travel. The following items should be checked or looked for during
initial diagnosis:
1.
Excessive brake lining wear.
2.
Rear brake/parking brake adjustment.
3.
Brake fluid level.
4.
Brake system bleed.
If these items are all found to be satisfactory, brake pedal travel/position may be improved with the following:
1985-86 Ninety-Eight; 1986 Delta 88
1.
Install brake master cylinder, part number 18011049 (less proportioning valves).
2.
Install jumper harness, part number 18011052.
3.
Install brake pedal, part number 25533603.
4.
Install brake pads, part number 12321422 (on vehicles that have not had these pads previously installed).
1987 Ninety-Eight and Delta 88
1.
Install brake pedal, part number 25533603.
1988 Ninety-Eight and Delta 88
On 1988 Ninety-Eight and Delta 88 models built prior to the following VINs, install brake pedal part number 25533603:
