Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair
Fuel Supply/Return Pipe Service
Fuel Pipes
NOTE:

If nylon fuel feed or return pipes becomes kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced.

Do Not attempt to repair sections of nylon fuel pipes. If damaged, replace.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
Tools Required for Engine Compartment Fuel Feed and/or Return Pipe Quick-Connect Fittings:
J 37088-A, Fuel Pipe Separator Tool Set.
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure (see "Fuel System Pressure Relief").
3. Quick-connect fittings at engine compartment fuel feed and return pipes (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
4. Fuel pipe attaching hardware.
5. Fuel feed and return pipe nuts at TBI unit.
6. Fuel feed and return pipes and O-rings. Discard O-rings.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New O-rings on fuel feed and return pipes.
2. Fuel feed and return pipes to TBI unit. Finger tighten only.
3. Fuel pipe attaching hardware. Tighten TBI engine fuel pipe attaching nuts to 27.0 Nm (20 lb. ft.).
4. Fuel feed and return pipe quick-connect fittings (see "Servicing Quick-Connect Fittings").
5. Tighten fuel filler cap.
6. Negative battery cable.
INSPECT
Turn ignition switch to "ON," position for two seconds, then turn to "0FF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position, and check for fuel leaks.
