Valve Body: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect negative battery cable.

2.

Disconnect cruise control vacuum hoses at servo and transaxle neutral start switch connector.

3.

Raise and support vehicle,then remove left front wheel and tire assembly and inner splash shield.

4.

Disconnect tie rod end from knuckle assembly.

5.

Disconnect stabilizer shaft link from lower control arm.

6.

Disconnect ball joint from steering knuckle.

7.

Install drive axle seal protector J-34754 or equivalent, then disconnect drive axle from transaxle.

8.

Remove pinch bolt from steering gear intermediate shaft, then disconnect intermediate shaft from steering gear.

9.

Position a transmission jack under transaxle oil pan. Raise jack until it supports transaxle.

10.

Remove three frame to body bolts on left side.

11.

Lower transmission jack and transaxle to gain access to case side cover.

12.

Disconnect oil cooler lines at transaxle.

Remove side cover bolts and case side cover, Fig. 3.

14.

Disconnect wiring harness at valve body.

15.

Remove oil pump to valve body bolts and oil pump.

16.

Remove valve body to channel plate bolts, then remove valve body, leaving spacer plate with transaxle.
