Wiper Motor: Description and Operation
Permanent Magnet Motor

Front

    This system consists of a modular, non-depressed positive park, non-articulating arm, pulse wiper assembly. The module includes the motor and
linkage which incorporates a centrally located linkage bell crank with a conventional symmetrical overlap system. The washer pump is mounted on the
washer bottle and a wiper/washer control switch is mounted on the dash.
    An electronic circuit board controls all the timing and washer commands. When the washer button is pushed for more than one second, a demand wash
is performed for as long as the button is held followed by approximately six seconds of dry wipes and a shutoff.
    Moving the switch to either the Lo or Hi speed position completes the circuit and runs at that speed. Moving the switch to the Pulse position operates
the motor intermittently and the delay can be varied by rotating the switch. An instantaneous wipe can be obtained by rotating the switch to the Mist
position and a continuous wipe will be performed if the button is held.

Rear

    The rear wiper system consists of a single speed permanent magnet wiper with a pulse mode. The motor drives a gearbox which in turn drives a wiper
pivot that provides an oscillating output to the wiper arm and blade. The pulse mode is plugged into the four motor terminals and is not serviced
separately.
