Center Support: Service and Repair
1982-85 ELDORADO, RIVIERA, SEVILLE & TORONADO
1.
Remove righthand output shaft as described under Right-hand Drive Axle, Output Shaft and Seal, Replace.
2.
Remove three screws securing bearing retainer to support.
3.
Install tool No. J-22912 between flange end of output shaft and flat area of shaft support, with flat surface of tool against flat area of shaft support.
Position assembly on a suitable press and press shaft support, bearing, retainer and slinger from output shaft.
4.
Remove bearing from output shaft support.
5.
Lubricate output shaft support and bearing, then position bearing into support.
6.
Pack bearing with wheel bearing grease, then install retainer and three attaching screws.
7.
Place assembled components and slinger on output shaft, then position components and output shaft on a press. Using a standard 11/4 inch inside
diameter pipe, press bearing and assembled components onto shaft.
8.
Check to ensure bearing and support rotate smoothly, then install righthand output shaft.
