UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATIONS TO HIGH CENTER MOUNTED (THIRD) STOP LAMP

Replacing the original "third stop lamp" lens with a lens that has the dealership company name or logo on the lens may place your dealership in violation
of Section 108 of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 specifies minimum surface area and photometric performance. Unless a lens that your dealership installs
meets all of the requirements of Section 108, your personnel should immediately refrain from this practice.

Section 108(a) (2) (A) of the National Traffic Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966, as amended, specifies in part that:

"No manufacturer, distributor, dealer, or motor vehicle repair business shall knowingly render inoperative, in whole or part, any device or element of
design installed on or in a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment in compliance with an applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard...."
