Axle Shaft Assembly: Service and Repair
Right Halfshaft Support Bearing
REMOVAL

1.
Remove halfshaft from differential and disconnect clamp and boot.
2.
Push back plastic ring with a screwdriver, then split C.V. joint.
3.
Remove the grease and hold tripod rollers in place with an elastic, rubber or cloth band.
4.
Remove bearing and retaining ring with extractor tool No. J22912-01 or equivalent, Fig. 4.
INSTALLATION

1.
Place halfshaft drive on press plate, then lubricate shaft at (a), Fig. 5.
2.
Install new bearing, using tube tool No. 0409 or equivalent. Press bearing until it seats, then the retaining ring in the same manner.
3.
Fill cup and boot with clean grease, then assemble halfshaft.
4.
Install plastic ring and boot, then secure boot with clamps, then reverse procedure to install in transmission.
