Air Diverter Valve: Testing and Inspection

Diverter Valve Test, 504 Models

NOTE: 

This test should be performed only after the air pump, electro-valve control switch, and the electro valves have been checked for proper operation.

Procedure

1.  Disconnect air supply hose form non return valve.

2.  Start engine and make sure choke is off.

3.  Check for air flow from hose. If air flow is felt, diverter valve is functioning properly. If no air flow is detected, diverter valve is defective and

must be replaced.

4.  Manually close electro-valve control switch. If no air flow is detected, diverter valve is functioning properly. If air flow' is felt, replace diverter

valve.

Diverter Valve Test, 604 Models

NOTE:

This test should he performed only after the air pump, oil thermoswitch, and the electro-valves have been checked for proper operation.

Procedure

1.  Start engine and run until normal operating temperature is reached.

2.  Disconnect air supply hose from non-return valve.

3.  Check air flow at hose. If air flow is felt, diverter is functioning properly. If no air flow is felt, diverter valve must he replaced.

4.  Ground electro-valve terminals 152 and 152A and check for air flow from hose. If air flow is detected, replace diverter valve. If no air flow is

detected, diverter is functioning correctly.
