Altitude Compensator: Description and Operation
The high altitude compensator is incorporated within the control pressure regulator. A barometric capsule expands with altitude variations. The
variation of volume is transmitted to the rod which, in relation to the altitude, will reduce the fuel passage at the diaphragm and consequently entail a
leaner mixture. During the cold start phase at high altitudes, the bi-metallic strip acts directly on the barometric capsule, and will prevent it from
imposing a leaning out of the mixture. As soon as the cold start phase is completed, the barometric capsule performs its intended function and imposes a
leaned out mixture relative to the altitude it has registered.
