Turn Signal Switch Replacement

REMOVAL

    Removal and installation of steering wheel requires use of DRB II readout tool or equivalent to perform an air bag system check. Perform
system check before connecting battery ground cable.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering wheel, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair. . 
3. Remove sound deadening insulation panel below steering column, if equipped.
4. Remove lower instrument panel bezel.
5. Remove wiring trough by prying out plastic retainer buttons.
6. On column shift models, position shift lever in full clockwise position.
7. On all models, disconnect turn signal switch wiring connector.
8. Remove screw attaching wiper/washer switch to turn signal switch pivot. Leave turn signal lever (control stalk) in it's installed position.
9. Remove three screws attaching turn signal switch to upper bearing housing.

Tape wiring harness connector to wiring harness.

Remove turn signal and hazard warning switch while guiding wiring harness out from column.

INSTALLATION

1. Lubricate turn signal switch pivot with Lubriplate or equivalent light lubricant.
2. Tape turn signal switch wiring harness connector to wiring harness, insert connector through opening in steering column, then guide wiring harness

downward through column until switch is properly seated.

3. Position switch into place on upper bearing housing, then install three attaching screws and tighten securely.
4. Position turn signal lever to turn signal pivot, then install screw through pivot and tighten securely. Ensure dimmer switch rod is in control stalk

pocket.

5. Connect turn signal switch wiring harness connector, then install wiring trough to column.
6. Install steering wheel, refer to STEERING SUSPENSION CHASSIS AND BODY COMPONENTS/STEERING/COMPONENT R&R

PROCEDURES/STEERING WHEEL. 

7. Install sound deadening panel, if equipped.
8. Install lower instrument panel bezel.
9. Before connecting battery ground cable, perform air bag system, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint

Systems)/Service and Repair.
