Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Location Of TPS
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a rotating type of variable resistor. It is mounted on the side of the throttle body and attached to the throttle shaft.
As the throttle shaft rotates, the sensor generates a voltage, for the Control Unit, indicating the throttle valve angle and opening rate. The Control Unit
uses this signal, along with other returning signals, to make adjustments to the fuel injection pulse width, ignition timing, and idle speed.
