Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place temperature control cable in warm position, then drain cooling system.
3. Disconnect heater hoses at heater core.
4. Remove center console and parcel tray, if equipped.
5. Remove defroster and center ventilation ducts, then the steering wheel using a suitable puller.
6. Remove instrument cluster panel mounting screws, then the heater control lever knobs.
7. Disconnect the instrument cluster harness.
8. Remove instrument panel trim mounting screws.
9. Remove wiring harness from instrument panel trim, then the trim.
10. Disconnect radio ground wire from cigar lighter bracket, then remove glove box door.
11. Disconnect heater unit control cables, then the harness connector.
12. Remove heater assembly attaching bolts, then the heater assembly.
13. Remove blower motor from heater assembly, the fan from motor.
14. Remove heater unit cover, then disconnect water valve to air mix damper connecting rod.
15. Remove screws from clamp and water valve, then the heater core from heater unit case.
16. Remove water valve from heater core.
17. Reverse procedure to install.
