Radio Repair and/or Exchange Procedures
Radio Warranty
Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Chrysler Mopar radios are warranted to be free from defects in material or workmanship for 12 months or 12,000 miles,
whichever occurs first.
All parts of the radio set are covered by warranty. Service such as "trimming" of antenna, setting push buttons for station selection, elimination of engine
noise, or other internal or external causes of static interference are not covered by warranty.
It is important, therefore, to isolate such conditions by performing a proper diagnosis before the radio is removed. Follow radio checkout procedure as
outlined in the appropriate Service Manual, Electrical System, to determine what part of your radio system is at fault before removing radio from vehicle.
Warranty Exchange/Repair
Warranty service for Chrysler manufactured radios is handled through Chrysler Authorized Service Centers. Warranty service for Mitsubishi
manufactured radios, including the "Ultimate Sound" and "Infinity", is handled through Mitsubishi Authorized Service Centers. The "Ultimate Sound"
and "Infinity" radio can be identified by the model numbers and graphics as shown on pages 5 and 6. Other Mitsubishi radios are identified by the
Mitsubishi logo on the face plate, as shown on pages 13, 14, and 16.
Same Day Service/Next Day Service Radio Warranty Exchange Program
A new Same Day Service/Next Day Service Program on radio warranty exchange is now in effect for all Chrysler Huntsville manufactured radios and
Mitsubishi manufactured Ultimate Sound and Infinity radios. The Same Day Service/Next Day Service Radio Warranty Exchange Program is designed
to improve customer satisfaction by eliminating the need for the customer to drive his vehicle while the radio has been removed for repair.
Same Day Service (SDS)
SDS shall mean any Chrysler Motors dealer, within a 25 mile radius of a participating SDS/NDS Chrysler Electronics Warranty Exchange Center, that
makes a request for an exchange radio by 10:00 AM on a regular business day, the SDS/NDS Radio Exchange Center will deliver a radio of the
requested model number to that dealer prior to 4:00 PM of that same day. A listing of SDS/NDS Centers is included with this bulletin.
Next Day Service (NDS)
NDS shall mean if a Chrysler Motors dealer, outside the SDS boundaries (normally 25 miles), but within the next day delivery area of United Parcel
Service or an equivalent carrier's service makes a request for an exchange radio to a participating SDS/NDS Chrysler Electronics Warranty Exchange
Center by 3:00 PM on a regular business day, the SDS/NDS Radio Exchange Center will ship the requested radio model to the dealer the same day. A
listing of SDS/NDS Centers is included with this bulletin.
NOTE:
AT THE DEALER'S OPTION, REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE RADIO WITH A RADIO OUT OF PARTS STOCK, OR ADVISE THE
CUSTOMER THAT AN EXCHANGE RADIO HAS BEEN ORDERED AND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE THE NEXT DAY. DO
NOT REMOVE THE DEFECTIVE RADIO UNTIL THE EXCHANGE RADIO ARRIVES. THIS AVOIDS UNNECESSARY
LABOR AND ENSURES THAT THE VEHICLE IS NEVER WITHOUT A RADIO.
