Idle Position Switch: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
The Motor Position Sensor (MPS) is a variable resistor type sensor. The MPS uses a plunger (contact) that is connected to the ISC servo and a set
of electrical windings that are stationary.
LOCATION
The MPS is located in the Idle Air Control (IAC) servo.
OPERATION
As the servo moves, so does the plunger, changing the output voltage of the sensor. The TCM uses this signal to determine the position of the ISC
servo.
