Prowler V6-3.5L VIN G (1999)
Alignment: Service and Repair
Curb Height Measurement
General Information
NOTE: On this vehicle the front and rear wheel alignment must be checked and adjusted to the preferred specifications, with the vehicle at its correct
curb height.
1. Correctly position the vehicle on the alignment equipment per the alignment equipment manufacturer's recommendations.
2. Check that all tires are at the recommended inflation pressure and adjust as necessary if they are not. Refer to the tire information label on the
B-pillar of the drivers side door for the recommended tire inflation pressure.
3. Check the front and rear curb height of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is at the correct height prior to checking and or adjusting the alignment
angles.
NOTE: If vehicle is within required curb height specification, proceed to step 4. See: Specifications
NOTE: If the vehicle is not within the required range of the curb height specification, do not perform a front or rear wheel alignment procedure. The
vehicle MUST be within the required curb height specification to obtain an accurate wheel alignment. After the vehicle is at the correct curb height
proceed with the alignment procedure.
4. Attach alignment heads onto the vehicle wheels. This vehicle uses flangeless style wheels, thus any alignment equipment used must be capable of
attaching to outside edge of the wheel bead.
Checking Front Curb Height Measurement
NOTE: The bar being used to measure the front curb height must be sitting on the same surface as the front tires such as the alignment rack turntables.
If the bar is not placed on the same surface as the tires it will affect the accuracy of the curb height measurement. Also, the bar must be stiff enough so it
will not bend when spanning the alignment rack.
1. Place the metal bar across the alignment rack. The metal bar must be placed on the same surface of the alignment rack as the tires are sitting on such
as the turn tables for the front tires.
2 Using a ruler measure the curb height of the vehicle. The curb height measurement is taken from the bottom surface of the frame crossmember to the
bottom edge of the metal bar. The curb height measurement must be taken on both the left and the right side of the vehicle. The location on the
vehicle to measure front curb height is opposite each steering gear mounting bracket on the front crossmember of the frame.
