Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The clockspring, mounted on the steering wheel column, behind the steering wheel, is used to maintain a continuous electrical circuit between the
wiring harness and the driver airbag module.
CONSTRUCTION
The clockspring assembly consists of a flat, ribbon like, electrically conductive tape, which winds and unwinds as the steering wheel is rotated.
