Camshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove timing belt front cover and align mark on camshaft sprocket with mark on camshaft carrier cover.

3.

Remove timing probe holder.

4.

Loosen water pump bolts and remove timing belt from camshaft sprocket.

5.

Remove camshaft carrier cover.

6.

Using a suitable tool, secure camshaft and remove camshaft sprocket bolt, washer and sprocket, Fig. 10.

7.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque camshaft sprocket bolt to 34 ft. lbs, timing probe holder to 19 ft. lbs. and camshaft carrier cover bolts to 5 ft.
