"This bulletin supersedes bulletin 87-6(Gasoline)-51, dated 7/87, which should be discarded. This bulletin is being issued to update applicable model
years, provide a part number change and the addition of a new part number, and provide additional direction on correcting fuel line knock/hammering
condition".
Some 1987-88 6000 models with 2.8L MPFI engines may exhibit a light hammering/knocking type noise audible in the vehicle passenger compartment.
Noise condition may be noted in a cold start mode, and/or warm stabilized mode and is most apparent at engine idle.
This condition may be caused by pressure pulsations in the fuel system generated by fuel injector operation, resulting in hydraulic hammering in chassis
fuel pipes.
