Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Axle

REAR HUB AND/OR BEARINGS

    Hub and bearing are replaced as an assembly.

1.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assembly.

2.

Remove and discard hub nut, then brake caliper. Suspend caliper with wire.

3.

Install drive axle seal protectors. These protectors should be used any time service is performed on or near drive axle. Failure to use them
may result in interior joint or seal damage.

4.

Remove brake rotor, then Torx bolts mounting hub and bearing assembly to knuckle.

5.

Remove hub and bearing assembly from axle using puller shown in Fig. 9.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, torquing bolts/nuts to specifications.
