Intake Air Plenum: Service and Repair
Air Plenum And Fuel Rail Removal
REMOVAL:
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Disconnect the vacuum lines, making note of their positions.
3.
Remove the EGR to plenum nuts.
4.
Remove the two throttle body attaching bolts, throttle body and gasket, discard gasket.
5.
Remove the throttle cable bracket bolts.
6.
Remove the ignition wire plastic shield bolts.
7.
Remove the plenum bolts.
8.
Remove the intake manifold plenum and gaskets, discard gaskets.
9.
Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Locate the new plenum gaskets on the intake manifold.
2.
Install the intake manifold plenum on the intake manifold.
3.
Install the plenum mounting bolts and tighten to 21 Nm (16 lb.ft).
4.
Install the ignition wire plastic shield bolts.
5.
Position the throttle body in place and tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
6.
Mount the EGR valve on the plenum and tighten the nuts.
7.
Install the throttle cable bracket and bolts, tighten.
8.
Connect the vacuum lines.
9.
Connect the negative battery cable.
10.
Set the parking brake, and block the drive wheels.
11.
START the engine and shift the transmission to DRIVE for automatics, or NEUTRAL for manuals.
12.
Allow the engine to run for approximately seven minutes for the IAC valve pintle to relearn its idle control position.
