PARK BRAKE HAND LEVER SLIP ON APPLY (REPLACE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY)
Models
Affected:
1990-92 FIREBIRD MODELS
Condition:
Some owners of 1990-92 Firebird models may comment that the self adjusting park brake hand lever may slip during apply,
requiring the driver to reapply the parking brake. After the lever is applied, it will continue to hold the vehicle properly.
Cause:
Occasionally, some parking brake assemblies equipped with the self adjust feature may create early loading of the cable
system and in turn may not allow full engagement of the adjuster pawl and sector teeth.
Correction:
Replace the parking brake hand lever assembly with redesigned lever, P/N 10198354 per Section 5 of the appropriate
Service Manual.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
