Intake Air Plenum: Service and Repair
Air Plenum/Fuel Rail Assembly Exploded View
REMOVAL:
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.
Remove the air inlet duct from the throttle body, and crankcase vent pipe at the valve cover grommet.
3.
Remove the vacuum harness connector from the throttle body.
4.
Remove the throttle cable bracket bolt.
5.
Remove the throttle body attaching bolts.
6.
Remove the throttle body and gasket, discard gasket.
7.
Remove the EGR transfer tube to plenum bolts.
8.
Remove the EGR transfer tube and gasket, discard gasket.
9.
Remove the A/C compressor to plenum bracket attaching hardware, and bracket.
10.
Remove the plenum bolts/studs.
11.
Remove the plenum and gasket, discard gasket.
12.
Clean gasket sealing surfaces.
NOTE: Use care when cleaning old gasket material from machined aluminum surfaces. Sharp tools will damage sealing surfaces.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Install new plenum gaskets.
2.
Position plenum on the manifold.
3.
Insert plenum bolts/studs and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb.ft).
4.
Install A/C compressor to plenum bracket and attaching hardware.
5.
Install the EGR transfer tube with a new gasket.
6.
Insert the EGR transfer tube bolts and tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb.ft).
7.
Position the throttle body with a new gasket on the plenum.
8.
Insert the throttle body attaching bolts, and tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb.ft).
9.
Install the throttle cable bracket bolt.
