REMOVAL
1. Raise hood and remove air cleaner.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure as described under Fuel System Pressure Test.
3. Disconnect injector connector by squeezing two tabs together and pulling straight up.
4. Remove fuel meter cover, Fig. 167. Do not remove gasket from fuel meter body.
5. Lift injector out of fuel meter body using a suitable screwdriver, Fig. 168.
6. Remove small O-ring from injector nozzle or from bottom of injector cavity.
7. If necessary, remove injector fuel filter by rotating filter back and forth while lightly pulling filter.
8. Remove fuel meter cover gasket.
9. Remove large O-ring and steel back-up washer from top counterbore of fuel meter body injector cavity.
INSTALLATION
1. Using a twisting motion, install injector fuel filter (if removed) with larger end of filter facing injector, so that filter covers raised ribs at base of
injector.
2. Lubricate new, small O-ring with automatic transmission fluid, then install O-ring. Push O-ring on injector until seated against injector fuel filter.
3. Install back-up washer in fuel meter body injector counterbore.
4. Lubricate new, large O-ring with automatic transmission fluid, then install over back-up washer. Ensure O-ring is seated properly and top of
O-ring is flush with top of fuel meter casting surface.
5. Install injector by pushing into position while aligning raised lug on injector body with fuel meter body cover. Push until injector is fully seated in
cavity.
6. Install fuel meter cover using new gasket. Thread locking compound must be used on fuel meter cover attaching screws.
7. Connect electrical connector, then install air cleaner.
