Beginning on September 24, 1985 or Julian Date 267, (refer to Figure 1), all models of the THM 700-R4 transmission were built using a new oil pan
gasket (part #8654799). This new gasket is thinner than the cork type gasket and must be used only for 1984 through 1986 model year transmission
assemblies with oil pans that have a continuous raised rib (refer to Figure 2).
