Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement (LZ4, LZ9) (See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Power
Steering/Power Steering Pump/Service and Repair).
2. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the CMP sensor bolt.
4. Remove the CMP sensor.
5. Inspect the sensor O-ring for wear, cracks, or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced.
Installation Procedure
1. Replace the O-ring if damaged, lubricate the NEW O-ring with clean engine oil.
