Body - Hood Latch Release Is Hard To Operate
TECHNICAL
Bulletin No.: 09-08-63-003
Date: March 04, 2009
Subject:
Hood Primary Latch Release Requires Excessive Effort or Will Not Function, Frozen Cable (Install Cable Tie, Install Revised Hood Latch Release
Cable)
Models:
2008-2009 Pontiac G8
Condition
Some owners may comment that the primary hood latch release inside of the vehicle requires an excessive amount of effort to operate or will not
function. This condition may occur in colder regions during freezing outdoor temperatures.
Cause
Moisture may collect in the low-lying area of the hood release cable assembly at the latch end of the cable. This moisture can corrode the inner cable,
causing higher than designed operating effort. In extreme weather conditions, the moisture may collect and freeze, preventing the cable from moving
within the cable casing. In these conditions, the hood latch may not release.
Correction # 1 (For vehicles built prior to VIN breakpoint 8L147421)
