G8 V6-3.6L (2008)
Important: The left and right axle shaft oil seals are different sizes.
Important: Do not damage any sealing surfaces when installing the axle shaft oil seal (1). Cuts or abrasions will damage the assembly and
result in lubricant leakage from this area.
1. Lubricate the NEW axle shaft oil seal (1) with correct grease. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (See: Differential
Assembly/Specifications/Fluid Type Specifications/Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers) .
Important: Use DT-48722 for the left seal or DT-48721 for the right seal to install seals to the correct depth.
2. Install the axle shaft oil seal (1) to the differential (2).
3. Install the wheel drive shaft to the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (See: Axle Shaft Assembly/Service and Repair) .
4. Install the rear wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair) .
5. Check differential fluid. Refer to Rear Axle Lubricant Level Inspection (See: Differential Assembly/Fluid - Differential/Service and
Repair/Procedures) .
6. Remove the safety stands.
7. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
