About the Grand Am
The Grand Am name ("Grand" from Grand Prix, "Am" from Trans Am) returned in 1985 on a front-drive compact on GM's N platform, replacing the Phoenix. It became Pontiac's best-selling car, was built in Lansing, Michigan, and was replaced by the G6, named as its sixth generation.
What these manuals cover
- 1985–1998: the 2.0, 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5-litre fours and the 3.0, 3.1 and 3.3-litre V6s
- 2001: (fifth generation) the 3.4-litre V6
Tip: the Oldsmobile Achieva and Calais share the N platform.
