Owner comments may be received regarding brake pedal effort on 1987 or early built 1988 Sunbird or Grand Am models.  A reduction in brake pedal
effort can be accomplished by replacing the original front brake pads with the new lining material part number 18015497.

Owners should be advised that some brake squeal may be associated with the new lining material, particularly in warm weather and periods of heavy
brake usage. The new lining, part number 18015497, is to be used for pedal effort complaint vehicles ONLY and not as a general Sunbird and Grand Am
service lining replacement. DO NOT refinish the rotors when installing the new pads unless absolutely necessary due to external damage. Light surface
rust and circumferential grooves in the rotor faces up to a depth of 0.0150 inch, caused by the original pads, will not adversely affect brake performance.
