This bulletin replaces previous bulletin. Previous bulletin addressed temporary fix. This bulletin provides a permanent fix. The 1994 model year is also
now included.
Condition:
Some owners may experience various driveability symptoms.
Cause:
Some vehicles may have engine harness pass-through leaking between the gasket and front of dash, or between wires in the engine harness pass-through.
Some engine harness pass-through bodies to front of dash may allow moisture to penetrate between the wires or around the connector gasket. Moisture
may contaminate or corrode the ECM connectors.
Correction:
Reseal the engine harness pass-through using the following procedure:
1.
Open hood.
2.
Remove screws securing the engine harness pass-through to front of dash - right hand corner near right fender.
3.
Gently pull harness upward enough to allow access to harness pass-through sealing surfaces, being careful not to pinch or stress harness wires.
4.
Apply a thin coat of urethane sealer, P/N 12345633, or equivalent, to the sealing surface of engine harness pass-through. Be sure gasket is in place
before reassembly.
5.
Reinstall harness pass-through and install screws. Torque to 2 N-m (17 lbs.in.).
6.
Remove enough electrical tape from engine harness end of pass-through to expose pass through plastic base and all wires to the point of where the
glue stops.
