Shifter A/T: Service and Repair

1. Remove steering wheel as outlined under Steering Wheel. Refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering.
2. Remove shift lever, then the shift cable from shift cable ball stud.
3. Remove shoulder tapping screw, button head screw, shift pivot bushing, stud and clevis assembly.
4. Remove clevis spacer, shift lever spring, spring retainer, two flat head screws and shift lever gate assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Torque flat head screws to 14 ft. lbs., button head screw to 15 ft. lbs. and shoulder tapping screw to 119 inch lbs.
b. Lubricate clevis spacer.
