INTERIOR DOME LIGHT OPERATION

1985 GRAND AM

CONDITION:

Interior dome light remains on when door is closed or will not operate when door is opened.

CAUSE:

Door jamb switch contacts may be corroded due to the possibility of water entering from the A-Pillar area. CORRECTION:

1)

Replace jamb switch and clean or replace connectors.

Upper Hinge

To prevent the possible corrosion of jamb switch, loosen upper hinge and apply a bead of high quality medium-bodied sealer around entire
perimeter of upper hinge. (See illustration)

3)

Tighten upper hinge bolts to 40-55 N-m (36 to 40 ft.lbs.)..
