Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair

Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve 
Assembly Replacement 
Removal Procedure 

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Drain the oil.

3. Remove the oil filter.
4. Verify that the gasket is removed with the filter.

5. Remove the oil filter adapter.
6. Remove the oil filter bypass valve using a screwdriver or a punch in order to pry the valve out.
7. Clean the oil filter mounting surface.

Installation Procedure 

1. Install the oil filter bypass valve. Seat the valve using a socket of the same diameter and a mallet.
