6. Slide the shock dampener (2) over the inner tie rod housing (3) until the front lip of the shock dampener (2) bottoms against the inner tie rod

housing (3).

7. To assemble the rack and pinion boot and the breather tube, refer to Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement - Off Vehicle.

Steering Gear Cylinder Pipe

Disassembly Procedure 

1. Loosen both cylinder line fittings (1) on the cylinder end of the gear assembly (2).
2. Loosen both fittings on the cylinder line assemblies (3) at the valve end of the gear assembly (2).

3. Remove both cylinder line assemblies (1) from the rack and pinion gear assembly (2).
