Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
LEFT
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove air cleaner and breather hose.
3.
On models with turbocharged engines, remove turbocharger.
4.
On all models, disconnect torque struts from engine.
5.
Remove coolant recovery bottle, then the serpentine belt cover and belt.
6.
Remove A/C compressor, then the A/C strut and bracket.
7.
Remove heat shield, then disconnect exhaust crossover pipe.
8.
Remove manifold attaching bolts, then the manifold.
9.
Reverse procedure to install, torquing manifold attaching bolts to specifications.
RIGHT
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2.
Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold, then lower vehicle.
3.
On models with turbocharged engines, remove turbocharger.
4.
On all models, disconnect engine torque struts, then remove coolant recovery bottle.
5.
Pull engine forward and secure in forward position.
6.
Remove air cleaner and breather hose, then the mass air flow sensor.
7.
Remove heat shield, then disconnect crossover pipe at manifold.
8.
Disconnect accelerator and T.V. cable at throttle lever, then remove accelerator and T.V. cable bracket from plenum and position out of way.
9.
Remove manifold attaching bolts and the manifold.
10.
Reverse procedure to install, torquing manifold attaching bolts to specifications.
